    Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to Lake Forest School District 67! This web page is designed to help with kindergarten enrollment. Please refer to the timeline for 2017-18 Incoming Kindergarten registration below, which explains the process for entering kindergarten at Lake Forest School District 67 in Fall 2017. Please contact Kindergarten Liaison, with any questions.

Please note: Lake Forest School District 67 specifies that, to enter kindergarten, children must be five years of age by September 1st of their kindergarten year.  Students who do not meet the age requirement will not be enrolled early.

TIMELINE FOR 2017-18 INCOMING KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

    Step 1: Pre-Registration

The first step in the process is to pre-register your student for kindergarten. This information will be imported into our student information system and will allow us to begin planning for the upcoming school year.

Lake Forest School District 67 offers two kindergarten program options, half-day or extended-day, at all elementary schools. The extended-day program is optional and fee-based.  Students from half-day and extended-day programs are blended across classrooms, so each classroom includes half-and extended-day students. Both programs offer the same curriculum in language arts, mathematics, wellness, music, technology, and information literacy.  Students in the extended-day program have additional curricular options in art, inquiry-based learning, and extended learning opportunities in language arts and mathematics.

During the pre-registration process, parents will indicate their kindergarten enrollment preference in either the half-day or extended-day program.

    Half-Day Program

The half-day program is held in the morning at all schools.  If enrollment numbers indicate the need for additional sections, an afternoon class may be opened.

    Extended-Day Program

The extended-day program is offered at all schools. The program is fee-based and the amount is set annually by the Board of Education (2016-17 extended-day fee is $4,800). Families electing the extended-day program must pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 towards the fee when completing pre-registration. Please note that the extended-day program fee is in addition to the kindergarten technology and consumable materials fee.

If enrollment in the extended-day program is sufficient, there will be at least one section at each elementary school. If enrollment in the extended-day program exceeds capacity, there will be a lottery system. If the extended-day program is not available at your home school, you will have the opportunity to transport your child to another school, subject to lottery selection.

    Extended-Day Mandarin Language Program

A Mandarin Language Program is offered as an option in the extended day program at Cherokee School. This option is available to all incoming District 67 kindergartners. Please see the Mandarin Language Program page for additional information.

Hours for all kindergarten programs can be found HERE.

Step 2: Incoming Kindergarten Parent Information Night and Verify Residency and Enrollment

After you have pre-registered your student, you will have the opportunity to learn more about kindergarten at District 67 and complete the verification of residency and enrollment process.

In order to attend Lake Forest School District 67 schools, you must complete the verification of residency and enrollment process. Step 3: Complete Online Registration and Pay School Fees

In late April or early May 2017, all students will be emailed a SnapCode announcement with instructions to complete the registration process and pay school fees. Completing online registration and fee payment no later than Thursday, June 22nd will save families $25 in registration costs per student.
