Thank you for your interest in Cherokee Elementary School. Cherokee is located at 475 E. Cherokee Road in the community of Lake Forest, Illinois.
Cherokee serves a population of students from kindergarten through fourth grade. The student enrollment at Cherokee is approximately 314 students. Our school mascot is Champ the Cheetah. Many parents choose to live in Lake Forest due to our reputation for academic excellence, and we at Cherokee uphold that reputation through our work to meet the needs of all of our Cherokee Cheetahs.
Cherokee students are provided with an environment in which they are consistently challenged and motivated to do their best. Together, administrators, staff members, and special service professionals partner with the community to engage each and every child in the rigorous curriculum at Cherokee. Core subjects studied include reading, math, writing, social studies, and science. Cherokee students are also fortunate to participate in music, art, wellness, and library and technology instruction in addition to their core areas of study. A unique aspect to Cherokee Elementary School for students is having the option to study the Mandarin language.
Also integral to our programming and to the success of all Cherokee Cheetahs is our Cherokee APT
and the Spirit of 67 Foundation.
Both of these organizations work to support the education and enrichment of all Cherokee students through supporting field trips, guest speakers, and by providing grants to Cherokee staff members to further enrich their instruction.
