The Scouts were able to jump out to an early lead and never looked back as they traveled across town to take on LFA. Max Kerf, Charlie Valentincic and Kernan Lynch combined to hold the home team in check. Michael Hartman and Kernan Lynch led the team with 3 RBI each.
Lake Forest 11 - Mundelein 6
The Scouts were locked into a close game with the Mustangs for most of the game until the top half of the sixth inning when the Scouts put seven runs on the board. They added another one in the seventh to cruise to the conference win. Andrew Fontana and Luke Davis combined to pitch a solid game for the Scouts.
Lake Forest 8 - Mundelein 12
Lake Forest 10 - Lake Forest Academy 5
Lake Forest 8 - Prospect 9
After building up a two-run lead throughout the game, the Scouts were not able to hold off the visitors from Prospect. Cole Ginochio led the team with two hits on the day.
Lake Forest 0 - Lake Zurich 10
The Scouts traveled to Lake Zurich and after falling behind early, were not able to recover and managed only three hits against the Bears in their defeat.
Lake Forest 5 - Lake Zurich 5
After taking a 5-3 lead into the seventh inning, the Scouts were not able to hold off the visiting Bears as they tied it up in the top of the seventh. After not pushing across a run in the bottom of the seventh, the Scouts settled for the tie with Lake Zurich. Cole Ginnochio and Charlie Valentincic each collected two hits for the Scouts.
Lake Forest 7 Libertyville 5
Nick Clarkson and Luke Davis combined to pitch seven strong innings for the Scouts as they tallied their second win of the season. Good defense and timely hitting contributed to the Scout victory.
Lake Forest 4 Stevenson 15
After taking an early inning lead against the visiting Patriots, the Scouts were not able to hang on and fell to visitors in 5 innings. The Scouts continue their league play this weekend as they travel to Libertyville.
Lake Forest 9 - Warren 8
The Scouts were able to pull out a win in extra innings to secure their first win of the season. After the visitors were able to tie the game in the the seventh inning, the Scouts rallied and won it in the bottom of the eighth when Harrison Bailey scored the winning run on an infield hit by Cole Ginnochio. Kernan Lynch and Luke Landis each had 2 RBI's for the Scouts.
Lake Forest 5 - Libertyville 13
The Scouts hosted the Wildcats at West Campus for their second league game of the season. The Scouts were cruising thru the first five innings while they built up a 5-1 lead. After running into some trouble with the visitor's bats heating up, the Scouts could not hold the lead and fell to the visitors.
Lake Forest Frosh B 1 - Warren 7
Lake Forest started the season by traveling to Warren to play the Blue Devils. The Scouts scored their lone run when Austin North doubled in Charlie Valentincic in the 6th inning. The Scouts take on Stevenson later in the week.
Trent Webster, Head Freshman Boys Baseball
Coach Webster has been Head Boys Freshman Baseball coach since 2016 after returning to coaching baseball in 2015 on the Freshman B level. He coached baseball at LFHS for 17 years before taking a "break" for family and professional pursuits.
Trent received his Bachelor's degree in Science, Health Ed. from Southern Illinois University and a M.Ed. from National Louis University. He is a teacher in the Wellness Department at LFHS.
Steve Johnson, Assistant Freshman Boys Baseball
Coach Johnson has been Assistant Freshman Boys Baseball coach at LFHS since 2016, and he has been Varsity Girls Golf head coach at LFHS since 2014. Previously, he was Assistant Boys Golf coach at Lake Zurich HS for 3 years. In addition, Steve has been a Freshman Boys Basketball coach at LFHS since 2010.
Steve is a graduate of Bethel College in Minnesota. He is a teacher in the Special Education Department at LFHS. He is married and has 5 daughters.
