GILBERT, Ariz. – Congratulations go out to Catherine Nicholson on being named to the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association All-Region team. She is one of only three players from Illinois to be selected for this team. During the 2017 season, her achievements included: Varsity Captain of the team, Lake Forest High School MVP, named All-Conference and All-State, and an All-Star team selection.
The Go Play Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) High School All-Region Teams were announced on Tuesday with 141 student-athletes honored from ten different regions.
The lists were divided into regions that included: Massachusetts, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, New Jersey, New York, Northern New England, Pennsylvania, South, Southern New England and West.
The Go Play Sports Tours/NFHCA High School All-American Team will be announced next week.
Lake Forest 2 - North Shore Country Day 0
Congratulations go out to the 2017 Varsity Field Hockey Team, who are back-to-back state champions. They claimed the 2017 title in a hard-fought battle with North Shore Country Day. Grace McGowan and Cat Nicholson provided the only scoring for the day.
The program has won titles in 1990, 1992, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 & 2016 and adds 2017 to this amazing record. Outstanding job Scouts!

The Scouts will play North Shore Country Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, for the IHSFHA state championship! Game time is 1:00 at Glenbrook South.

Lake Forest 3 - Glenbrook South 0
The Scouts earned a trip to the final four with a 3-0 victory over GBS. The Scouts offense maintained possession for the majority of the game, earning 15 offensive corners during the game. The Scout defense not only posted a shutout, but the GBS offense was not able to register a shot attempt during the contest. A strong effort from both sides of the ball will help prepare the Scouts for the remaining two games of their season.

The Scouts have started their playoff run with a big win in their first round game vs. Antioch.
Northbrook, IL, October 18, 2017– Illinois Field Hockey and Windy City Field Hockey announced today the selection of the state's top girls high school field hockey players to its Illinois All-Star field hockey rosters.
Lake Forest 6 - Naperville North 0
The Scouts hosted the Naperville North Huskies in the final home game of the 2017 season last night. The Scouts started the night honoring the eight seniors who would be playing their final home: Barbara Canty, Ava Caputo, Elisabeth Domittner, Olivia Douglass, Sophie Metzger, Cat Nicholson, Natalie Notz and Casey Slingerland.

The seniors made sure their last night would be their best night with all the Scout offense being generated by the senior class. It was a great end to a great regular season. The Scouts are now setting their sights on the playoffs. They will start their playoff run next Wednesday, starting at 5:00 at Antioch High School.
Lake Forest 3 - LFA 1
The Scouts traveled across town for their final away game of the regular season Friday night.
Lake Forest 6 - Stevenson 0
The Scouts continued the momentum from the big win on Monday against New Trier to beat the visiting Patriots 6-0. The Scouts had a season-high 13 offensive corners while allowing zero defensive corners. In addition to the high offensive output, the Scout defense was able to keep the ball in the offensive end for the majority of the game--only allowing Stevenson into the circle five times during the game. The Scouts will be in action again on Friday as they travel to crosstown rival, LFA.

The Scouts started off slow on Saturday vs. Deerfield by leading only 2-1 at half, but they were able to find their stride during the second half. While the Scouts offense struggled early, once it got going it was impressive to watch......
Lake Forest 6 - Lakes 0
After a tough weekend, the Scouts got back on track Tuesday with a big win against Lakes. The Scouts started the game off by scoring in the first two minutes and never looked back. Maggie Mick provided the Scouts with a much-needed spark on offense with her first hat trick of the season.
Sarah Considine, Natalie Notz and Charlotte Domittner contributed with a strong defensive effort allowing only two shots on goal. Barbara Canty registered her ninth shutout of the year in the goal for the Scouts.
Lake Forest Field Hockey Huskie Tournament Review
The Scouts traveled to OPRF this past weekend to participate in the Huskie Invitational, the second major tournament of the season. The tournament consists of eight teams from four different states.
The Scouts traveled to Glenbard West for what proved to be the toughest game of the season thus far.
Lake Forest 2 - New Trier 1
The rematch of the 2016 state championship was another great battle between two of the top teams in the state.....
Lake Forest 6 - Francis Parker 0
The Scouts were able to get offensive production from a variety of players with six different players finding the back of the cage. More impressive than six different players contributing to the goal count was that only one of the Scouts goals was unassisted.
Lake Forest 6 - Glenbrook South 0
The Scouts returned from St. Louis and appeared to pick up right where they left out. The Scouts had nine different players contribute to the 6-0 victory by registering either a goal or assist for the Scout offense.

The Scouts traveled to St. Louis for the Gateway Classic over Labor Day weekend. Playing 3 games against some of the top competition within the Midwest within a 24-hour stretch, the Scouts were put to the test.
Lake Forest 2 - North Shore Country Day 1
Lake Forest opened on Varsity field against a very talented North Shore Country Day team, who finished the 2016 season fourth in the state and are looking to build on that this year. The game was close from the start, and neither team was ever able to pull away. The game was highly contested even in the closing seconds.
The Scouts' defense was able to withstand the very dynamic and aggressive offense of North Shore Country Day. The strong defensive play was anchored by Sarah Considine, Charlotte Domittner, and Natalie Notz. Both Lake Forest and North Shore Country Day will be teams to watch as the 2017 season continues.

The Scouts traveled to Loyola Saturday for what proved to be a battle against a tough Rambler team. At half-time it appeared as though the game was going to be a defensive battle with a 0-0 score.
Great night for the Scouts last night... All three levels traveled out to OPRF (Oak Park River Forest) and came away with shutout victories.

The Scouts opened their regular season Tuesday night with a victory 6-0 vs. Evanston at Northwestern's Field Hockey Stadium.

Catherine Catanzaro, Head Varsity Girls Field Hockey
2017 marks Coach Catanzaro's first year as Head Varsity coach after having has been Head JV coach at LFHS for seven years. Prior to that, she coached for three years at the collegiate level, five years at the Varsity level and two years at the JV level.
Catherine received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Longwood College. She teaches in the Wellness Department at Lake Forest High School.
Katie Tilton, Assistant Varsity Girls Field Hockey
Coach Tilton first picked up a stick as a sophomore in high school. She played three years as a starter at Woodlands Academy and earned All-Conference and All-State honors as a junior and senior. Tilton went on to be a four-year letter winner at Wittenberg University, where the team went to the Sweet 16 of the National Tournament during her sophomore and junior years.
2017 is Coach Tilton’s first year serving as Varsity Assistant Coach for the Scouts. Tilton previously coached at the high school level as the Head Coach at Woodlands Academy for seven years where she was repeatedly voted by her peers as the ISL Coach of the Year and was the Head JV coach at Deerfield for two years. Coach Tilton has also coached with the Windy City Field Hockey Club (various levels and ages) since 2002, served as both Head and Assistant coach with Futures, and as an Assistant Coach at Northwestern’s summer camps. In addition, she was also a referee for IHSFHA for the past five years and is currently a fitness coach.
Coach Tilton received her Bachelor's degree in English from Wittenberg University, and has a Masters in Education from National Louis University. She’s a mom of three young children and 4 four-legged fur-babies.
