Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Golf team, who placed second at the Boys Golf State Tournament--two strokes behind Hinsdale Central. Hinsdale led throughout the tournament, but the Scouts kept getting closer late on the final day.
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Golf Team, who tied Stevenson High School with a score of 296 for the Sectional Championship at Gurnee on Monday. The Scouts' Michael Seaman (80) finished one shot better than the Patriots' Alexander Kim (81) for the tie-breaking fifth score. Both teams--along with third-place Highland Park (298)--now advance to the state championship at The Den in Bloomington beginning next Friday, .
Congratulations to the boys golf team for winning the IHSA Regional today at Shepherd's Crook in Zion. The Scouts beat the second-place team by 10 strokes. Senior Scott Frevert was the individual medalist and Regional Champ with a score of 78.
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Golf Team on their North Suburban Conference Championship today at Willow Glen Golf Course. The team finished with a score of 293 followed by Stevenson (295), Mundelein (301), Lake Zurich (315), Libertyville (317), Warren (322), Zion Benton (342), Waukegan (401)
Lake Forest Senior Scott Frevert tied with Stevenson's Senior Matt Schawell with a low score of 72. Freshman Pierce Grieve and Senior Jed Thomas shot a 73 for the Scouts, followed by Junior Danny Fisher (75), Senior Michael Seaman (76), and Seniors Wes Dixon (78) and Connor Polender (78) Great Job Scouts!
The Varsity Scouts lost a close one at Northmoor on Tuesday. The Scouts finished second out of four with a 146 total and two shots behind Highland Park. Leading the way for the Scouts was Danny Fisher who finished the day with a 35. Also helping out for the Scouts was Connor Polender, Michael Seaman, and Pierce Grieve who all shot 37s.
The Scouts head to Bittersweet and Bonnie Brook on Wednesday for matches against Warren and Waukegan.
Varsity Boys Golf had a busy Homecoming weekend........The Scouts placed third out of 26 teams at the Wildcat Invite. The tournament was hosted at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein. As a team they posted a 303 finishing behind Highland Park and Stevenson. Leading the way for the Scouts was Danny Fisher and Connor Polender who both finished with 74s. Also helping out for the Scouts was Scott Frevert (77) and Jed Thomas (78).
The Scouts defeated Mundelein with a solid performance by the team. Danny Fisher led the way with a round of 33. Scott Frevert came in next at 36.
The Scouts have had a successful regular season run. All players will be in action on a busy Saturday as the top six travel to Countryside Golf Club, and the others travel to Steeple Chase Golf Club and Chevy Chase Golf Club.
The Varsity Scouts placed Third at Twin Orchard on Saturday with a 305 total. The low man for the Scouts was Michael Seaman with a 74. He placed 4th overall in the tournament. Also counting was Pierce Grieve (76), Danny Fisher (77), Jed Thomas and Patrick Moorhead both shot 78.
The Scouts traveled to Buffalo Grove Golf Course on Saturday for the Bison invite. It was a close battle throughout the day, but the Scouts came out victorious in the 16-team field behind some impressive play.
Lake Forest 143 - Stevenson 151
The Scouts hosted Stevenson at Lake Bluff on a wet Tuesday afternoon. The Scouts continued their winning ways by beating Stevenson 143-151 with a strong showing by the whole Scout team. The low man for the Scouts was Scott Frevert, who fired an impressive -2, 34. Other contributing members included Connor Polender (36), Patrick Moorhead (36), Jed Thomas (37), and Michael Seaman (37).
The Varsity golfers travel to Winnetka on Wednesday for a match against Loyola.
On Saturday, the Varsity Boys Golf Team traveled to Bittersweet Golf Club in Gurnee to compete in the sixteen-team invite.
Connor Polender paced the Scouts with a 2-under par 70 on Saturday for medalist honors. Freshman Pierce Grieve followed close behind Polender with a 74....good for second place. Jed Thomas (74) and Danny Fisher (75) also shot scores that counted for a team total of 292....a first-place finish.
In the early stages of the Lake County Boys Golf Invite on Monday afternoon the eclipse visited Shepherd's Crook Golf Course in Zion, making it feel a little like it was late evening for a few minutes. Stevenson took the title with a 299, just ahead of Lake Forest (301), Highland Park (303) and Deerfield (304) in the 16-team event.
Lake Forest's Danny Fisher (74) Pierce Grieve (75) and Jed Thomas (75) were among those receiving medals.
Varsity Boys Golf Get Another Win at the Woodstock Invitational

Varsity Boys Golf Roll on With Two More Victories

The Varsity Boys Golf team continued their winning ways with two victories--one on August 14 against Lake Zurich and another on August 15 when they defeated Loyola, New Trier, GBS and Loyola in a quad tournament.
The Varsity Scouts opened their season with a win at the Prep Tour HS Showcase hosted at Deer Park Country Club.
Lake Forest Varsity Boys Golf claimed a victory at Fox Run Golf Links with a team total of 271. York (274) came in second and Prospect (279) came in third. Prospects' C. Busch/D. Norton had the low score for the day with a 65. They were followed closely by Patrick Moorhead/Pierson Grieve with a -4 66.
Jim Matheson, Head Varsity Boys Golf
Coach Matheson became Head Varsity coach in 2003. Prior to that, he was head coach at Waukegan HS for 2 years.
Jim received his BA in Marketing and Management from Trinity International Univ. and Roosevelt Univ. and his Master's in Educational Administration form Northern Ill. Univ. He teaches in the Driver Education Department at LFHS.
Graham O'Connor-Brooks, Assistant Boys Golf
2017 marks Coach O'Connor-Brooks first year as Assistant Boys Golf coach at LFHS. Coach O'Connor-Brooks has also been a member of the basketball coaching staff at LFHS since 2011.
He is a 2006 graduate of LFHS and 2010 graduate of the University of Iowa. Coach O'Connor-Brooks played for Coach Matheson from the fall of 2003-2005. He has been helping out with the golf team at practices as well as different events since the fall of 2013.
He currently works in the Special Education Department at LFHS.
