Varsity and JV Dance Teams with Conference Champion Trophies

Congratulations go out to the Varsity and JV Dance Teams, who placed first at the North Suburban Conference Championship on Friday, January 12, at Waukegan High School.

Congratulations to the Lake Forest High School Varsity and JV Dance Teams, who began the new year by bringing home trophies for their pom and jazz routines at the Chicagoland Dance Championship, which was held at the UIC Pavilion on Saturday, January 6. The competition draws teams from Illinois and the surrounding states in the Midwest.

The JV Dance Team traveled to Warren High School for morning performances at the Warren Invite. It wasn't until late afternoon that they found out that they placed first for their jazz routine and second for their pom routine. Congratulations on the fine job!

Next up is the UDA Chicagoland Dance Championship on January 6 at UIC. Go Scouts!

The JV Pom/Dance Team traveled to Crystal Lake Central High School for a Sunday competition and came out in third place in jazz and fifth place in pom.

Emily Sokoloski, Head JV Pom/Dance

Coach Sokoloski has been Head Coach of the JV Competition Pom/Dance Team at LFHS since 2015. She has spent ten seasons working at Six Flags Great America as a featured performer, choreographer and dance captain of the shows performed in the Grand Music Hall. From 2012-13 Emily was the casting director, choreographer, featured performer and dance captain of the Lady Gaga inspired touring production, Bad Romance. This is her eighth year assistant directing The Magic of the Nutcracker with Dancenter North in Libertyville.

Coach Sokoloski received her Bachelor's degree in Dance/Communication from Western Michigan University. She is an instructor, choreographer, jazz department head, rehearsal director and production manager at Dancenter North in Libertyville, where she began her dance training at the age of five.
