Welcome to the Communications Department

  • Lake Forest School Districts 67 and 115 prioritize ongoing, real-time, transparent communications with our school community. The Communications office strives to deliver news and information about the Districts in a thoughtful, inclusive, and strategic manner.

    Here are some of the vehicles through which we deliver news to our community:

    • Website: Newly revamped, the District website provides information about all aspects of our schools and student life. This interactive tool provides a calendar of events, news stories, Board of Education information, and resources for students, staff, and families.

    • School Newsletters: Sent each Friday, each school disseminates an end-of-the-week newsletter with celebrations and important information from administrators, parent organizations, and community events to school households.

    • Social Media: Both Districts 67 and 115 maintain active Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts to connect with students, families, the community, and alumni. Follow us and celebrate our school community!

    • Insight 67/Insight 115 Community Newsletter: Households within the school district and community members receive our newsletters, Insight 67 and Insight 115, featuring student and staff activities, programs available to the public, financial updates and other general news. Periodically, these are also mailed to all households in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Knollwood. To subscribe, please click here: D67  |  D115

    • D67 Green Backpack: District 67 allows only certain categories of external not-for-profit organizations to submit information through the Green Backpack, a virtual hub for flyer requests. Those include:
      • another public or private school, governmental entity, or community-based center;
      • a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that offers district-related, non-profit events or initiative; and
      • community athletic or youth organizations.

    To submit your information for consideration:

        • Provide a brief description of your activity or event, along with a link to your website or location where your flyer is posted to communications@lfschools.net by Monday.
        • Once approved, the information will run for one week in our school e-newsletters AND on our website for the duration of the program (or one month if no end date exists).
        • Yard signs, posters, paper flyers or other distributed materials are not allowed.
        • Activities/events must be non-sectarian, non-political and may not promote a fundraising activity unless the activity is school-sponsored or directly benefits our schools.

    The decision to distribute information or provide links to websites that are not part of Lake Forest Schools is at the discretion of District administrators. The District is not responsible for the content and accessibility of external websites linked onto the District’s website. External websites are the sole property of such websites, and the content and accessibility of external websites are the sole responsibility of the entity or entities in control of the content and administration of such websites.

    • BrightArrow Notification System: The BrightArrow system is the primary means of notification by the districts and will be utilized to notify all households and parents within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes an early dismissal, school cancellation, or a late start. An alert will be sent using the contact information you provided when you registered your student for school (during InfoSnap online registration). Families may update their contact information on the BrightArrow website.

    • Press Releases, Photo Opportunities, and Media Relations: The Chief Communications Officer works with local media to provide news items about upcoming events, student and staff news and other key information. Any questions or requests for quotes or statements should be directed to Melissa Oakley, Chief Communications Officer, at moakley@lfschools.net.

    • YouTube and Video: The Districts post videos of events including concerts and Board of Education meetings on the District’s YouTube pages here:
