Student Grant Application:

The Spirit is now giving students the opportunity to dream up what they’d like to see in classrooms and outdoor spaces to make their school better.

The image shows three young girls, two of whom are holding up papers, and a woman in the middle holding a tablet with the text %22Spirit of 67%22 displayed on it. The background appears to be a school or educational setting, with posters and other decorations visible.
A young girl with long blonde hair is reaching up to place something in a blue donation box labeled %22Spirit of 67%22 in a cluttered bookstore environment.
Two young children, a boy and a girl, are standing in what appears to be a classroom or educational setting. The background includes various educational materials, posters, and decorations, suggesting this is a learning environment.
A group of young students, with long hair, are gathered around a table in a classroom setting, engaged in an activity or discussion, surrounded by bookshelves and educational materials.

Special Requests for Families in Need:  In addition to the above types of grant requests, the Spirit of 67 Foundation annually funds the Kreischer’s Kids Fund.  This fund was established in memory of Gary Kreischer, a beloved former teacher and principal in District 67 who was deeply involved in student life.  This fund provides assistance for students facing financial hardship and can help with things like food insecurity, purchasing school supplies, and participation in school-related extracurricular activities.

This fund is confidentially administered by District 67 personnel and is available to any student in the district. If you know of a child who may benefit, please contact your school’s administration.

Grant Review Process/Criteria:
After a grant application is submitted:
  • Building Principals and District 67 administrative staff review the application and provide feedback
  • The Spirit Grants Committee—made up of Spirit board members--reviews, deliberates, and votes to approve or deny the grant application. The Spirit of 67 administrative liaison and teacher liaisons are consulted during the review process and, if needed, input from District 67 administrative staff and the Board of Education liaison is gathered.

In each case, decisions are based on:

  • The strength of the application
  • Alignment with the Spirit of 67 Foundation’s mission
  • Whether the request can be funded fully or partially within the District’s or school’s budget
  • Special Considerations based on Grant Application Type including:
