Student Services

District 67 Student Services

The District 67 Student Services Department is dedicated to supporting all learners' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs and fostering academic and social-emotional growth. We provide a variety of supports through our multi-tiered systems of support and more intensive support through 504 services and special education. 

Our department includes special education teachers, school psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists and nurses, homebound services, and teaching assistants.

 

School-Wide Supports and Interventions

  • District 67 uses a MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Framework to support all learners. MTSS is a systematic, data-based, problem-solving framework that ensures instruction and intervention in academics, behavior, and emotions.The focus of MTSS is on prevention and early intervention.
     

  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

    • Universal Instruction - For all students. 

    • Targeted Interventions - For some students, they are based on student data. 

    • Intensive Interventions - For few students, based on student data and problem solving. 
       

  • Key Features Include:

    • Researched-based core curriculum with high-quality, differentiated instruction 

    • Universal screening of math, reading, and behavior/emotional.

    • Targeted research-based interventions for academics, behavior, and emotions when students need more support. 

    • Regular progress monitoring to ensure students are making growth in each identified area. 

    • Collaborative team problem-solving using data to identify needs and student student responsiveness. 

    • Utilizes a continuous review cycle to make necessary changes based on student progress.

Student Mental Health Days

A new law, effective December 31, 2021, states that a student may be excused for mental or behavioral health for up to 5 days in the school year without a medical note.  The student shall be permitted to make up any work missed during a mental health absence. After a second mental health day absence is used, the student may be referred to appropriate school support personnel.
