Title I

Title I, Part A

What is Title I, Part A?

Title I, Part A is a federal program under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that provides funding to help ensure all students have the opportunity to meet challenging state academic standards. Title I funds are designed to provide additional academic support and educational services beyond the instruction students typically receive in the classroom, with a particular focus on students who are most at risk of not meeting grade-level expectations.

Title I Documentation

Lake Forest Community High School, Deer Path Middle School West, Deer Path Middle School East, and Sheridan Elementary School received Title I targeted funds. These federal funds, provided through Title I, Part A, are used to provide supplemental instructional services and supports for students identified as being at greatest risk of not meeting challenging state academic standards.

Title I-funded services, materials, and resources must directly support the students identified for participation in the program because these schools operate Targeted Assistance Programs. The funding is intended to supplement, not replace, the core instruction and services students would otherwise receive. For more information, refer to Board Policy.

Title I allocations are determined through federal and state funding formulas that consider factors including the number and percentage of children from low-income families within the district.
