District 67 and the American Legion Partner on New DPM Flagpole Just in Time for Veterans Day
A day before Veterans Day, members of American Legion McKinlock Post 264 were at Deer Path Middle School for a brief flag-raising ceremony at the newly installed flagpole behind the school.
The event, Superintendent Matthew Montgomery said at the District 67 School Board meeting later in November, was “something special.”
DPM has a flag in the front of its building, on Deerpath Road. This new flagpole provided an opportunity to partner with the community, Dr. Montgomery said, noting that a donation from the Legion helped pay for it.
“I’m grateful, humbled, and honored that this community came together to celebrate Veterans Day at DPM,” said District 67 School Board member Carl Kirar, who served in the Navy for 22 years. He thanked the Lake Forest community, the District 67 Board, staff, teachers and students, and his fellow veterans for taking part in the ceremony led by Post members.
