Over 800 K-4 graders enjoyed the Visiting Scientist academic enrichment program. Kindergarten, First and Second graders experienced a Mousetrap Machine Show which is a STEM assembly by Smarty Pants World that used balloons to demonstrate how five simple machines work: The Lever, The Wheel, The Pulley, The Inclined Plane and The Screw.
Third and fourth graders had workshops with the scientist with their classrooms. Third grade spent time with Steve Schindler of Reptomania and got hands-on with live reptiles and amphibians. Fourth grade learned about photosynthesis with "Gravity Greg" from Mad Science.
This program is organized by the APT and funded by a grant from the Spirit of 67 Foundation.
