"The Power of Equity and Inclusion"
with Dr. Carol Quirk
Tuesday, March 9 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Research tells us that when students experience a sense of belonging, they are more motivated, become more engaged in school, and have greater academic achievement. A sense of belonging is nurtured when each and every student has opportunity for participation and learning to the same extent as other students – and that they receive supports when needed in order to access those opportunities. A sense of belonging is also fostered when shared interests are recognized and unique differences are valued.
Across the nation, schools and districts are recognizing the economic and personal consequences of equity and inclusion. In this session, Dr. Quirk will share her experiences with districts and schools that are working to build a culture of inclusion, with a focus on the value to ALL students when none are excluded from equitable opportunities and an environment of engagement is fostered.
