Letter from Lake Forest Schools Superintendent to Governor Pritzker

July 12, 2021

To Our District 67 and District 115 School Community:

This afternoon I sent the letter (linked below) to Governor J.B. Pritzker. This message is an appeal to the Governor for local control regarding COVID-19 risk mitigation protocols in our schools, based on local data and stakeholder input.

In an effort to help guide these local decisions, I plan to reconvene the District 67 and District 115 COVID-19 Metrics Advisory Councils. Members of the 2020-2021 councils will have an opportunity to remain in their role for one more year, or roll off. Some of last year’s members are no longer in the District. With this in mind, later this week we will send out an invitation to our school community to fill the District 67 and 115 Metrics Advisory Council vacancies for the 2021-2022 school year.

I will continue to keep you updated as we work toward returning our students to school in August - All In, Every Day.

Be well,

Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
