District 67 has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. In 2017 and 2018 Deer Path Middle School received the Support Music Merit Award - a single school designation. This is the first year that the entire District received the designation of being a part of the 2019 Best Communities for Music Education.
BAND, ORCHESTRA, CHORUS
Instrumental and vocal music instruction is provided for students interested in developing their musical talents. Small group lessons are provided during the school day. Full band, orchestra, and choral group rehearsals are held according to grade level schedules. The performing groups participate in several concerts each year. Concert selections are drawn from a wide range of musical styles including classical, jazz, popular, folk, and rock.
Five Deer Path Middle School students were selected to participate in the American Choral Directors Association National Honor Choir, held Wednesday, February 27 ‐ Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. Singers from all over the country auditioned for this select ensemble, and those who were selected rehearsed with a master conductor and performed choral music at the very highest level.
