Dear Parents and Guardians of Graduates,

This is an exciting time of the year as we come together as a community to reflect upon our journey and celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2020. As our seniors prepare for a transition from LFHS, our hopes and dreams go with them. We know that they have the ability and the character to positively change the world.

As you know, our plans for graduation are currently altered due to specific guidance provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

On Saturday, June 6th, we will live stream a closed portion of the ceremony from LFHS and will invite graduates to the presentation of diplomas drive-thru ceremony where each student will be individually presented with diplomas at LFHS. This portion of the ceremony will also be live streamed.

Despite our changes, graduation remains a formal event marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by our graduates, parents, and staff. To ensure that the ceremony is respectful, dignified, and meaningful for all members of our school community, the dress and behavior expectations for graduation are outlined below. It is essential that all attendees preserve the dignity and civility of this ceremony. Graduation is an optional event. Those who prefer not to participate are not required to attend.

Our Class of 2020 is an outstanding group of confident, intelligent, and thoughtful individuals who know how to work well independently and with one another. They have established a positive school culture by serving as mentors and leaders. Through a rich array of academic, athletic, extracurricular and service activities, the Class of 2020 will leave behind a lasting legacy that will always be a part of the history of Lake Forest High School. We laud their efforts and are so proud of how they have represented Lake Forest High School.

During this time, it is also important to recognize that your child's journey would not have been possible without your nurturing, love, and guidance. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Your support has helped to make the Lake Forest High School community an incredible place to live, learn, and enjoy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chala Holland
