Are you or anyone you know passionate about business or entrepreneurship?
LFHS is actively looking for coaches and mentors for the Business Incubator for the 2018-19 school year.
The Business Incubator is a Junior-level honors course that is designed to expose students to all aspects of entrepreneurship and enterprise. Through community collaboration, students are mentored by real entrepreneurs and business experts, and are guided through the Lean start-up process of ideation, market research, and business model development. The incubator model includes 172 lessons plans that can be personalized by the coaches/mentors. The physical classroom setting is designed to ignite brainstorming and encourage creativity in developing products and services for the real world. The course culminates in "Pitch Night," a Shark Tank-style presentation where student teams may have the opportunity to present their ideas and products to the community in hopes of gaining funding to take their business to market.
Pitch Night will be held Friday, June 1st at 7pm in the LFHS RMA. You can see first hand the entrepreneurial excitement that evening as some of this year's teams seek funding for their businesses. All teams will be available in the lobby prior to the event, as well as during intermission to share their business ideas.
Some of our mentors are currently working, some are retired, and some work part time or haven't worked in a while.Generally, mentors meet with their groups about once a week during the school year, but we also have a need for substitute mentors if you are interested in helping but cannot commit to a regular schedule. If you or anyone you know has a business background and would enjoy mentoring a group of student entrepreneurs please contact Nikki Rhomberg at email@example.com.
